About Prince Albert Concert Choir
The Prince Albert Concert choir was established in the fall of 2012 as a result of
the efforts of Robert and Lorna Gibson and Linda Moriarty. It was established with
a desire to provide Prince Albert and area with a Soprano, Alto, Tenor, Bass choir where
individuals could be exposed to a range of high quality choral works and directing
that would challenge our abilities. Robert regularly pushed our choral abilities, and Lorna
was that solid rock that only a highly skilled accompanist can be. Robert and Lorna announced their retirement
from the Choir in January of 2024. Thank you Robert and Lorna! We honour and respect your
legacy!
In February 2024 Perry Acorn accepted the Directorship of the Choir - thank you so much Perry for
taking on our truly grateful choir. We are enjoying his tour of Canadian music - such a
great musical legacy from coast to coast! And speaking of enjoying - we are enjoying
the rock-solid accompanment of Bob Casgrain - accomplished Canadian musician and teacher! With
Perry and Bob's professional foundation we sound better than we imagined we could in less than
three months of rehearsals! The sum is definitely greater than the parts!
This choir is truly eclectic - in addition to our Canadian music repertoire this choir
has rehearsed and performed Bach, Handel, Luboff, Rutter, Elgar, Whitacre and Schubert
to name a few, as well as a strong showing of choral arrangements of sacred,
gospel, folk and traditional tunes from all corners of the earth and languages.
A spring workshop with a guest director has been a benefit and may be repeated as
circumstances allow. If you or someone you know has choral experience and love it –
please put them in touch with one of our choir members or director (or drop a note to us via our Contact page) – we rehearse
Mondays at 7:30 – with more voices we could expand our repertoire and perhaps
expand our performing schedule!
